Children's "movement away from handwriting"
Due to the fact that children's handwriting is becoming light, there seems to be a growing movement in elementary schools to increase the pencil thickness requirement from HB to 2B.

AERA dot (article in the June 2021, 6 issue) states:"There is a question that asks you to circle the correct answer, but the pencil marks are so faint that it's hard to tell which one is circled."
There are now more documents where it is difficult to distinguish between erased mistakes and circles.
"In the school's entrance exams, the school usually provides the pencils to be used in the exams. They always used HB pencils, but recently they have decided to provide 2B pencils.","The time spent hanging from the horizontal bar is also getting shorter."etc. are written.
"A decrease in handwriting leads to a decline in academic achievement."There are concerns that this may cause problems, and there are movements overseas to reconsider handwriting.
Although explanations such as videos designed to help children understand their studies have made things easier to understand, this article has taught me about the unexpected reality for children when it comes to writing about them.
Needless to say, the current test is evaluated by "writing." It is important to learn the basics of holding a pencil correctly and writing neatly so that others can read it as early as possible.
